University of South Florida students could spend their spring breaks sleeping in or relaxing on the beach. Instead, many choose to volunteer their time and energy to better the lives of others by participating in an alternative spring break.

This week almost 150 students are traveling across the United States to give back to the community. Some will be assisting people who are living with chronic illnesses in Alabama, Georgia and Washington, D.C. Others will be making a difference in the lives of children in South Carolina and cleaning up the Gulf Coast in Louisiana.

Continue to check back to read about the students’ experiences and the impact they will have on communities.
